Mrs. Grace Adibe-Ikpa was a beloved teacher and mentor who inspired generations of students with her passion, encouragement, and commitment to education. In the classroom, she nurtured her students’ vision while also guiding them to achieve their fullest potential.
In 1969, She began a three-year illustrious teaching career at National School Umuwala (then St. John’s Catholic School), where she served as the mathematics and science teacher. Her dedication to teaching excellence left an indelible mark on her students, many of whom went on to distinguish themselves in their chosen paths.
To honor her service and lasting influence, Dr. Patrick Nwakama, her former student and alumnus, established and funded the Grace Adibe-Ikpa Endowment. This endowment supports a permanent teaching position at National School Umuwala, ensuring that her legacy of excellence in education continues to inspire future generations.
The awardee may be in any discipline but must exemplify the highest standards of teaching excellence.
We are proud to announce that the inaugural recipient of the Grace Adibe-Ikpa Endowed Teacher Position is Mr. Ikechukwu Osuji, Math & Science Teacher. His dedication to student learning and commitment to educational growth makes him a befitting recipient to carry forward Mrs. Adibe-Ikpa’s remarkable legacy.
